Indonesia: The plaintiff who complained to the WTO about Indonesia Nickel was originally a "colonist"
General Introduction
Djoko Widajatno, a member of the Mineral and Coal Downstream Working Group of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, revealed that several countries had sued Indonesia at the WTO for China’s nickel ore export ban.
Details
On Saturday (December 24, 2022), Zoko said on the closing bell of Indonesia CNBC:
“Now events happen again and again. God has given Indonesia abundant nickel, especially in Sulawesi and North Maluku in Papua. These nickels are good commodities in the future.”
As we all know, Indonesia is currently having legal disputes with the EU in the WTO. The reason for the lawsuit is that Indonesia has officially banned the export of nickel ores since 2020.
The latest news is that the EU has filed a lawsuit against Indonesia in the WTO dispute settlement body on the Indonesian nickel ore export ban policy. Although Indonesia lost the lawsuit, it has formally filed an appeal.
It is well known that nickel will become a strategic commodity in the future. Indonesia will establish a battery-based electric vehicle ecosystem through these mineral resources.
He said:
“Therefore, countries that try to raise objections to nickel ore exports actually want to control our natural resources to achieve their prosperity, but they forgot what Mr. Zokovi said, let us build the world economy in the spirit of cooperation.”
